WHO: a man from Romagna, like many others,
in love with his Country.
My love for wine culture and travelling dates back to the time I was
working in my family's hotel in Cervia, on the Adriatic coast, while still
attending humanities studies. After taking my degree in foreign languages
at Bologna University and having succeeded in becoming a teacher in
secondary schools, I felt it was time to satisfy my passion for wine: so I
got through the exams of the three courses held by the Italian Association
of Sommeliers (A.I.S.) and became an official wine taster. A couple
of years later, after some travelling, I decide to attended a course at
the Board of Tourism in Bologna and passed the exam to become an officially
appointed courier.
I'd like to share love, passion and enthusiasm for
my home country with people willing to have an in-depth view, out of clichés
and mass itineraries, into a region which will soon be a leading one.
HOW: I arrange and lead daily educational
tours focused on the wines of Romagna for groups of friends or
corporate groups. Participants will be driven to discover a very pleasant
part of Italy and its wines; if you like, local products (like cheeses and
salami) or handcrafted items (like rust brown hand printed textiles) can also be included in the tours.
It's a
great opportunity to visit these area estates, to taste the most
representative wines of our provinces, to enjoy wine and food and to
sightsee beautiful and romantic towns or villages.
I can of course recommend hotels and restaurants or
provide a minibus or a coach with driver; if no bus is booked,
participants' own cars will be required.
A tour can take half a day (generally three
hours morning or afternoon) visiting two wineries, or a full day (from
9 a.m. to 7 p.m.) visiting four. The full-day tour means that we'll have
lunch all together and my lunch shall be paid for by participants. Sometimes
wine
tasting is free.
To deepen your knowledge of the various wine
typologies in this area you can obviously choose as many tours as you
like!
You can state which area you are more interested
in: Cesena, Forlì, Faenza-Ravenna, Rimini, but you'll have to wait for my
approval, as the wineries have different seating capacity or could be
already busy on the chosen date. Rates will be detailed upon your request:
send a fax or an e-mail stating dates, requirements and preferences (see
page "Info-Booking");
you'll receive my reply, and then you will confirm by sending a deposit of
Euro 80,00. The balance is due not later than ten days
prior the date of the tour. You will receive a receipt acknowledging your
payment.
WHEN: Romagna is at its splendour from
March to October, but any time is suitable. Naturally at vintage the
estates are rather busy, and at that time it might happen that a winery
has already sold out certain wines…; don't worry, we'll keep on
searching having the wine must perfume as companion.
